Welcome to the new :scale newsletter, Scaling Up with Sana. In this newsletter, I share with you a reflection of my week, our latest blog posts, podcast episodes and current projects and finally, content that I enjoyed this week!
I hope you can take something away from reading this newsletter and I’d be more than happy to answer any of your questions so feel free to email them to me 📨

🔮 Reflection of my Week
Is it just me or did this week zoom past? This week was really interesting because I’ve been given the chance to lead the design for a care home project at work. I quite enjoy the iterative process, problem-solving and refining details because a small change can make a huge difference.
On the side, it’s full steam ahead for :scale studio, a 2-week live course I’m building to help architecture students master skills that university fails to teach us. This is going to launching in a week! Nerve-wracking 😨
It definitely feels like the calm before a storm! 🌀 But I just love working on projects that are beneficial to so many students who are in the same position I was a few years ago.
My energy levels have remained constant throughout this week and I’ve found it a lot easier to maintain a habit of getting some skipping done during my lunch hour 🏃🏻‍♀️
I’ve found that investing in yourself either through exercise or learning a new skill or just prioritising time for yourself is hugely beneficial and can actually make a world of a difference if you’re obsessed with your productive output.
But maybe it’s not all about keeping up with the pace of others but instead just experimenting with what works for you. 🤔
✍🏻 This Week's Blog Post
Toxic Patterns in Architecture School That Need to Stop
I’ve been waiting for this blog post to come out for ages! If you didn’t already know, this was the inspiration for my recent article in the Architect’s Journal. I quite enjoy having discussions with the archi-community to learn more about the educational experience around the world.

The Future of Work - Woke Wednesday
Some of you may know I’m in constant awe of Ali Abdaal and his productivity content, but Sheen (his current roommate) has recently started her YouTube and Podcast journey and I properly enjoyed this episode. Listen carefully to what Nikita says about Digital Leverage.
💡 1 Bit of Advice
Jon Stewart - Simplicity Specialist (He/Him) 🚢
- Think about how you work on your worst day. Plan your system around that - you can always do more, but sometimes you need to do less. Create space for that.
- Always always always allow yourself moments of silence.
Would recommend you give this entire thread a read. I have learnt the hard way that making time for yourself and working according to your energy levels is so important and is honestly the best way of avoiding burnout. I hope most of you are taking it easy now that summer is here! 🍹 Have a great weekend.
So with that, I bid you adieu 👋🏻
Have an awesome weekend.
Sana 😊
