New Beginnings

Welcome to the new :scale newsletter, Scaling Up with Sana. I’ve been wanting to collect my thoughts, ideas and advice together in one place for a while now but the idea of writing a newsletter felt full of friction. Unsurprisingly, I’m in the midst of several projects so let’s see if I can stick to this.
Anyway, it’s great to have you here and if you’ve been on this mailing list for a while but prefer not to be, I won’t be upset if you unsubscribe at the bottom.

Why this Newsletter?
So we’ve actually been sending out weekly emails that just give you a link to our latest blog post. It’s been alright, but it was quite boring to be honest. I personally enjoy reading quick snippets and finding out about new content or resources so that’s what I’m going to try do.
I think it would also be great if every week, we reflect a little on that week’s blog post and I can release a new podcast episode every fortnight. Sounds like a deal?
So, for the foreseeable future, in every newsletter, every Friday, I’m going to try and include:
  • a reflection of my week
  • 1 cool article or video I saw this week
  • 1 piece of advice
🔮 Reflection of my Week
I’ll tell you now, this week has been CRAZY! I’ve been switching routines, working from the office full-time and now back working from home (which I prefer).
But alongside this, there’s a massive push to get the content for :scale studio ready by the end of this month as well as staying on track for all the other content too.
But something interesting happened.
I am a total night owl. I don’t like being woken up and I don’t really enjoy waking up early which means most of my work happens late at night. But, since I’m under pressure and the normal work-day leaves little time for extra-curricular stuff, I decided to stick to my office routine, and instead of a commute, I use the hour to catch up on projects.
It’s called my ⚡ Power Hour. This is where I get all my important but not urgent tasks done. Replying to emails, finishing off small tasks from the previous week, giving advice, DMs, meetings, calendar blocking - that kind of thing.
And it’s been doing wonders. No seriously. Now, I’m not showing up for work having run down the stairs at the last minute and greeting my colleagues with a groggy face. Instead, I’m a bit more relaxed (still tired) but slightly more awake.
I think part of it is trying not to make it an official thing - kind of like this newsletter. If I treat this as a task or that I have to wake up early, I probably won’t do it. But instead, I’m just going with the flow, thinking about the enjoyable aspects!

💡 1 Bit of Advice
If you’re graduating this year, the 1 piece of advice I can give you which is perfectly timed is to get onto LinkedIn right now.
LinkedIn is the place you need to be for getting in front of employers, networking and building your professional presence online.
So with that, I bid you adieu 👋🏻
Have an awesome weekend.
